Welcome!

Plan-it Recycling & Transfer Facility Inc. is located in the Gorham Industrial Park. The facility opened in April of 2004 and offers a residential transfer station for area residents, a commercial recycling, transfer station and universal waste consolidation facility. Plan-it has been designed to minimize construction and demolition debris disposal, and maximize the reuse and recycling of waste material.

Recycle it at Planet Recycling!

Residential Transfer Station The residential transfer station is made up of a series of roll-off containers and staging bins for materials such as bulky items, construction & demolition wood, sheetrock, metal, asphalt, roofmg shingles, brush, white goods, tires, leaf, yard waste and household recyclables.

Universal Waste Consolidation Facility The universal waste consolidation facility does comprise a portion of an 8,000 sq ft building. The facility is set up to allow for acceptance and consolidation of universal waste from residential & commercial customers. Universal waste includes items such as computer monitors, TV, thermometers, fluorescent lamps, batteries and electrical ballasts.

Commercial Transfer Station The commercial transfer station comprises a sorting and transfer pad for mixed construction & demolition debris and dry waste. There is multiple designated areas for staging of pre-processed and post-processed construction, demolition materials (i.e., wood, bricks, concrete, asphalt roofmg shingles, glass, porcelain, etc...) wood pallets, stumps, brush, leaf and yard waste.

Plan-It uses a mobile grinder to process wood, leaf, yard waste, brick, concrete, glass etc..

Typical operations at the commercial transfer station include the receipt of construction & demolition debris (Mixed or presorted) in roll-off containers, live-floor transport trailers and/or dump trucks/trailers. Mixed construction & demolition debris is sorted on the sorting pad into recyclables (i.e., wood, metal etc...) and non-recyclable materials. The sorted wood, other sorted construction and demolition materials is moved to one of the staging areas for future processing (i.e., grinding) on site. The non-recyclable materials are loaded into 100 cubic yards. Y d (typical) transfer trailers for transport ITom the facility to licensed solid waste disposal facilities.

Construction, demolition wood and wooden pallets will be ground into chips for use as fuel at licensed wood-fired boilers. Metal fasteners removed during the grinding process (construction, demolition wood including wooden plates) are segregated and accumulated in a dedicated roll-off container for recycling. Stumps and brush are ground into mulch and chips for landscaping and erosion control use. Asphalt roofing shingles are ground into chips for transport to licensed solid waste facility or recycling facilities. Leaf & waste is ground into mulch for transportation to licensed compost facilities. Materials such as brick, concrete, glass and porcelain are crushed into a recycled aggregate for use as construction fill. Fuel chips, mulch, shingle chips and aggregates it-transported off site in roll-off containers; live-floor transport trailers and/or dumps trucks/trailers. An excavator (with grapple), ITont-end loader and skid steer is dedicated to the facility for handling ofthe materials.

Cardboard and Paper Recycling .

The cardboard and paper recycling facility comprises a portion of an 8,000 square foot building. The facility accepts, consolidate and bale cardboard waste derived ITom residential customers as well as commercial accounts. Plan-It utilizes a horizontal baler for this process.

Tire Consolidation Facility
